This involved setting up the "spare room" aka the campervan so that Matt & Leanne could stay in it with Lacey. Oh, and dressing up the garden with all the bunting and flags we found in the cheapo card shop! Hurrah!
Out came the firepit, and the Chinese, and the beers..
Onto Saturday morning and it was decided that Matt's new van was due for some TLC and a barbeque was arranged for the supporting team (Fish, Nick & Marv) and their families!
After a poor morning's bowling Leanne and I went in search of meat and bread for the barbeque. Meat was easy (pardon the pun) but bread proved harder to find and another frantic search of shops, in the Whitchurch area this time, ensued.
Bread rolls secured, we headed back to Matt & Leanne's and some serious progress had been made on the van!
Firepit came into it's own once more, and another long evening with lots of beer ensued...
The following morning we decided we were going to make the most of the new engine in the van and go find a beach! The weather was lovely and it seemed a shame we hadn't made the most of it (albeit for the right reasons!)
So, Leanne gave us the dialling code for a campsite near a lovely beach - we were heading for Barmouth!
Leanne was a little frustrated that she wasn't coming with us, however, with some gentle persuasion her and Matt followed on shortly after lunch when the first coat of pain had gone onto the van.
To make sure she didn't feel left out, I thoughtfully sent pics to her from my phone of our journey...not sure they actually helped much though!
First one had to be a shot of the two shagging flies caught on the windscreen wipers, followed by some scenic shots...
It was a gorgeous day, a little breezy, but lovely and sunny and very warm... a brilliant view of the bay...
We visited the tourist information and got a list of local campsites that accept dogs, ended up at Hendre Mynach just 1/2 a mile along the coast. Gorgeous site with great facilities and friendly reception staff. We found a suitable pitch with room next door then sat in the sun and waited for Matt & Leanne to join us. It was lovely.

After a few hours, they did join us and we had an hour putting their pop-up palace up and blowing the airbed up and such.
Then we thought we'd walk into town and find something for tea.
Barmouth appears to close at 7pm. EVERYTHING was closing early and we must have taken a wrong turn because we couldn't even find a decent pub! Eventually we settled on Chucks American Diner by the station. The service was erm...poor. The food was acceptable.
Marv had found the rock shop and wanted the huge stick of rock from the window!
Despite the average food, and the early closing we manged to scavenge some beer (!) and headed back to the campsite, determined to have an early night after the previous two late ones.
The apparently missing reception was more than made up for on the walk back by the amazing sunset:
An exceptionally windy night followed by an early morning and we headed into town - where Leanne had her ears pierced again! Very spontaneous!!
So it was bye bye to Barmouth...
Then a short trip over to Bala for some fish and chips on the way home...Alas, no pics of Bala - we left the camera in the van!
Still lovely and sunny for the drive home...
This is a wonderful opinion. The things mentioned are unanimous and needs to be appreciated by everyone.
