Day er... 7?

I've lost track of how long we've been doing this - I'll go back and check!

Today Marv had Matt to glamorously assist him today, so I didn't get there until after lunch (bring theirs with me!). They had wasted no time at all in removing the remaining panel off the passenger side, and getting busy with the fiddly bits on the overcab section of the drivers side:

Turns out we had a few minor issues with glue seeping onto the old wood...

Eventually the side was removed, flipped and stapled on the back. However, I wasn't quick enough to get a photo of this, Marv was stapling and Matt was removing the rear bumper

Don't worry, we have a clear note of what wires go where - look we even wrote it on a block of wood to remind ourselves! (well, Matt did! Thanks, Matt :D )

And because I wasn't allowed to take a pic until Matt had seen it: Here is the MAN SHELF!

Full steam ahead!

While I was running errands today Marv has been super busy.

We're going to getting the last panel off the other side tomorrow, so in the meantime it was new wood time. He had plans in his head that both sides would be completed at the end of the Christmas holidays, but given today's progress they're going to be done before Christmas! Just look how well he's done!

Marv has also fashioned himself this special piece of workbench furniture that allows him to rest a length of wood for cutting at the right height and angle for easy cutting. The boy is a genius!

And as you can see, we're still sticking by the clean up as you go along mantra! Yay us! :D

Wednesday 11th Dec

Short one this time: more window and blind removal - all safely stored at home, not many photos (because someone ie ME!) forgot the camera... The awning was also taken off and stored on the MAN SHELF!

MAN shelf!

Tonight I was on screwdriver duty - unscrewing the blinds and window clamps from the rear window (passenger side), and the kitchen window. I also started removing the blind on the window up top - however, I think Karmann employed Santa's Elves for the rest of the year because there's no way any grown up human hands screwed in those bloody screws!

The wood surrounding the windows removed tonight looks really good - I think we're a checkerboard camper! :)

Only a few pics tonight, Marv was building himself a MAN SHELF! on which to rest the sides already removed, and keep them up out of harms way - pics will follow when it's finished (watch this space!)

Window 1 - removed! Go me! (well there were only a dozen or so screws holding the blind together, and as many again in the clamps, still, pat on the back for me)

Nice and clean from what we can see:

Day 2! - Tidying up...

So day 2 was a little bit of tidying up, and moving things about. But that doesn't mean nothing got done! Marv has removed the windows on one side, along with all the panels! A much better view of the full side, and the corner we were worried was going to be mush, is just about good enough to make a template from! Few pics from today's activity.

Oh, and because I forgot to take a pic yesterday: Roof rails off:

Bathroom window out:

Hmm..spongy bit of mould in the windowframe (yes, I know, I'll remove the cushions tomorrow!):

Blind removed, bundled and labeled up!

And hooray, the non-mushy corner:

The back section, quite spongy and mouldy. Eurgh!

So, side 1: complete:

Let's see what tomorrow brings... :)

So we haven't posted much in ages, but that's not because we haven't been anywhere, we've just been a bit too busy to post...

Unfortunately the time is nigh, and after a summer of out corner cupboard being out of commission because of the creeping mould we have taken action...

Step 1: Find a suitable location...and relocate contents of drive, garage, kitchen.

 photo DSCF2225_zps3c19e70e.jpg

Step 2: Reverse...

 photo DSCF2227_zps4ba5d5ee.jpg

Step 3: Begin...Remove all vents, and trim

 photo DSCF2230_zpsb47baa7a.jpg

And so very quickly, we reached the point of no return on one side, and found a familiar sight...:

 photo DSCF2232_zpsec141445.jpg

When we started on side two, things were just as we suspected...just about everything under the door was rotten:

 photo DSCF2236_zps25ef4249.jpg

And the splodge you can see on the floor is water that was squeezed out of the wood as Marv was working on it:

 photo DSCF2243_zps3590e835.jpg

 photo DSCF2245_zpsb097b7dc.jpg

I was mostly in charge of scraping the panels, I am well behind schedule...*insert eye roll*

And so I think we've made excellent progress for Day 1. Well done, Mr Marvinator! x

Holiday 2011

So, we're not long back from a week away to Wales. And since we were in the Campervan I thought I'd include it here.

We nearly didn't make it. We set off on a Friday evening for a three hour drive to where Mum & Dad's caravan is in West Wales and we get about half an hour away from home and the bloody turbo pipe pops off again :(

Mark tries to fix it at the side of the road, gains a burn or two in the process and declares we need a longer section of pipe and jubilee clips that aren't made of paper. Since one of the Jubilee clip broke we turned around and headed (slowly) for home. While en route, an invite from Matt & Leanne to camp on their drive (obviously after consuming some alcohol!) meant we were still able to claim to be "On holiday"!

So, we stopped with them, drank a lot of wine, laughed a lot and generally had a fabulous night! Thanks so much guys, you saved our holiday, we really appreciate it and love you loads xx

Saturday morning meant a slow meander to Demon Tweeks in Wrexham for replacement pipe (silicon this time) and decent clips. Mark fixed the van on the car park and we were off! Hoorah!!

We then proceeded to spend the week as planned - lazing between Aberystwyth, Aberaeron and New Quay. We found a few new drinking establishments since the last time we were there and had a lovely relaxing week.

We also spent a day going on the Rheidol narrow gauge railway up to Devil's Bridge where we did both walks and enjoyed the views of the Mynach falls. Oh, and, of course, ice cream! (Well, we are on holiday!)

Here's some pics, hope you enjoy them.

Some views of New Quay.

We were very lucky with the weather. Everyday we dutifully watched the weather and it said it would be wet and windy, and everyday it was lovely!
